I’ve
been debating whether to put this post up for a while now. I don’t know about
you, but whenever I hear/see someone mentioning things that they’re going to
stick to for the year, I roll my eyes slightly. But, I’m going to be one of those people and do just that. Why, I
hear you ask. Well, A- by sharing them online and with the people who
occasionally peek at this blog (hey
guys!) I feel a lot more inclined to try and stick to them. B- I do
actually need to do them. While they aren’t exactly the most exciting of New
Years Resolutions (I’d love to go sky
diving or riding elephants everyday but I don’t think that’s gonna happen….) some
are beneficial health wise, and others are for my ever excitable/overthinking
head that I feel would benefit me. And C- I’m a bit nosey. Link me/mention your New Years Resolutions on the comments below and we can all
attempt to motivate each other on our ever-growing mission to become more sassy
and fabulous.
So,
better late than never, onto the resolutions...
Drink more water.
Drink more water.
Yep,
that
old chestnut. I am the standard coffee, tea, squash, juice-loving
individual who doesn’t drink enough water. I’d love to say I’m going to
drink 4
litres a day but I know that won’t happen either. So, I’m aiming for at
least 6
glasses a day, as it seems more approachable. My best friend from uni
always
moaned at me for never drinking enough water, as she was always H2O’s
biggest
fan. I’ve even bought a jazzy water bottle to help- after all if it
looks cute
I’m more likely to take it everywhere, right?! I love these ideas to
pimp up your glass of water if you're needing some aqua inspiration...
One evening a week, just for me.
Sounds
simple,
but it isn’t always easy. We’re in a world where everything is go go
go, with things to do, people to see and work to do and I am no
exception. So,
I’m making it a bit of a mission to make sure I’ve got some time for
myself.
Whether it’s a bubble bath with an awesome Lush bath bomb, or to cuddle
up in comfy clothes with a good book, it will help me stay stress free
and give me some much needed time away from my laptop.
Work out at least 3 (but ideally 4) times a week
Urgh, I hear you groan. Another ‘lets be healthy and get fit in 2016!’ but this Christmas podge ain’t gonna shift itself. I’ve never been overweight, but I’m not exactly Miss Fitness either. This resolution isn't necessarily about a massive weight loss diet, but more about making a concious effort to ensure I live healthily. I’ve got a body type which I feel is obvious when I put on a couple of pounds, so I’m going to make it a mission to move this ass and release my inner Khloe Kardashian and get fit! (Strong arm emoji)
Cuddle Babs even more.
Yup
you guessed it! I never created this blog for the purpose that it would get crazy amounts of attention or exposure, but I'd love to really keep working hard on my blog and generate some online traffic. I want to make this ever growing, ever wonderful little Fashion Captive
land into an inspirational space that not just myself can enjoy, but those who
pop by and have a gander.
Exercise positive
thinking
I like to think of
myself as a person who remains quite optimistic and doesn’t get too easily
disheartened, yet I sometimes find myself doing the complete opposite. I feel
as though I have to reassure myself to keep going and that I’ll be fine in a variety of different situations. For example, I worry that nobody will ever stumble upon my blog or that I don’t have my dream job yet and half of
my university friends are doing super well in various fashion positions, but
hey that’s okay! That’s amazing for them and I'm so proud of them, yet I’ve also got to believe that by working
hard, I’ll get exactly where I want to be. Whether this is within the blogging community or in a job hunt. Having a more positive outlook on
things, and more importantly myself, is definitely something I’m going to work
towards in 2016 to be in a healthy space both physically and mentally. Need to get yourself in a positive headspace too? Follow my 'Words To Live By' Pinterest board here.
So there you have it, my 6 resolutions for 2016. A new year isn't about crazy new changes, it's about evaluating what you've learnt from the year before in order to make the year ahead even better. Keeping all these little objectives will be challenging (maybe except the one about Babs), but I'll be tackling them one bit at a time to make sure 2016 is my happiest and healthiest year yet.
Have
you made any New Years Resolutions? What are they? I’d love to know what you’re
trying to keep in 2016!
