The Metallic Sheer Dress

Sheer fabrics were littered across the runway this season all the way from Cavern to Burberry to Dolce & Gabbana. Just when we think that we’ve exhausted the see-through fabric trends designers go out and pull out the bag some amazing silhouettes and garments to sink our teeth into. While underwear as outerwear is for the brave, there was not a chance I was missing out.

I picked up this sheer top from the Urban Outfitters sale a while back and I am obsessed with it. The metallic finish make it appear blue, grey, silver and brown all in different lights and it looks so cute teamed over just black jeans and my Puma crop. Despite it being sheer I am a bit of a lightweight with cold so I layered over my favourite faux fur jacket, velvet quilted shoulder bag and my Nike sneaks.

Summer sunshine please hurry up so I can layer this up with cute shorts and gladiator sandals!

ASOS Wishlist

Oh ASOS, the amazing things you do for my wardrobe but not for my bank balance. The new season is here in all its stripe, floral, gingham and coloured glory and that means one thing: a wardrobe update. Yes, I’m supposed to be saving travelling but completely by habit I always *accidentally on purpose* add items into my saved basket an ASOS and its current contents literally make me go like the heart-eyed emoji. Sequinned floral denim jeans will be perfect in boiling in Thailand, right? Maybe naaat, but when the season looks this good clashing print dresses are definitely in the fore front of my mind.

I haven’t done one of these posts before so I thought I’d put together all the items I’m currently lusting over that are all purchasable on ASOS. All items are linked below so say hello to my dream wardrobe ready for Spring. I was also thinking of putting another trend guide together, so let me know if it’d be something of interest. Take a look into the beautiful trends of Spring Summer 17- now all we need is the sun.

Boundary Festival

Brighton you served me well once again on my latest adventure. Last month myself and the Bobbi Brown queen Molly headed to Boundary Festival on the outskirts of Brighton. The new festival for 2017 labels itself as ‘taking the best of Brighton’s creative energy, lust for life and generosity of spirit, Boundary Brighton is a festival with four stages of music, a vintage fair, delicious local food and other unexpected treats, all nestled between the crest of the Downs and the City with the sea below.’

Yes its not Glastonbury in terms of scale- I actually preferred it being a bit smaller- but I can tell you we had a bloody good time two stepping the day and night away sipping cider in the crisp coast air and enjoying some amazing music for good measure. With acts including Bondax, Jackmaster, Groove Armada, Seth Troxler, Jaguar Skills and Tottla T & Serocee it was a definitely a day well spent with my fave gal pal. We even managed to get ourselves VIP thanks to the gal that is Shannon Saunders (if you haven’t heard her before, I strongly recommend you do!) to enjoy Craig David and the lovely Wilkinson backstage. Hearing his new song ‘Sweet Lies’ with Karen Harding (major girl crush alert, btw) sipping on vodka cranberries dancing away backstage with Shan and Mol was the perfect end to another awesome weekend in Brighton. And yes, the hangover the next day was so worth it.

In terms of outfits it was pretty cold so I had to hit up the tights to ensure I kept warm but I think it worked well with my die hard Doc Martens, black body harness, cropped Puma crop top and black buckle belt from ASOS. And hey, if you’re doing denim shorts it’s always gotta be the oversized denim on top. (#doubledenim4lyf) Molly looked stunning, as always, teaming her Zara jumpsuit with Nike Air Max, black bomber, brown suede tassel bag and Dior-esque sunglasses. We found out the next day we walked an equivalent of 11 miles dancing throughout the day and night, and if that isn’t a sign of a good time I don’t know what is…

Winter Is Coming

Isn’t it ironic how I was getting all ready for winter and it was actually warm this week? Numpty. But one thing is for sure- September Vogue, LOVE, and Elle Collection magazines are here so I’m getting into the new season spirit. I’ve got a trend guide up my sleeve that will be uploaded soon, but before that gets added to my little corner of the internet I thought I’d add some images of the outfit I wore at the weekend.

The whole Victorian/ruffle trend has been a favourite of mine this season, so this is the perfect trans-seasonal garment that is currently on-trend but the navy blue colour makes it easy to wear throughout the early months of autumn. I’ve been massively impressed with Zara’s ‘its not summer but not quite winter yet’ offering and I couldn’t say no to this sheer little beauty when I was shopping in Exeter. All I can say is that if you haven’t been to Zara recently, it’s definitely worth a trip.

I’ve teamed it with my die-hard Joni jeans from Topshop, my MAC lipstick in ‘Diva’ (if a plum lip doesn’t scream autumn I don’t know what does) and my bright orange clutch from Zara to add a pop of colour. I also picked up these Public Desire over the knee boots from ASOS that I know I’ll be wearing both for day and night outfits throughout the winter months. Not only do they make my legs look longer and keep them super cosy, but the knot/tie up detail at the back means that they don’t slip down the leg like so many other over-the-knee’s do. The heel gives me a bit of height but they’re not enough to make your feet hurt if you’ve been in them all day- winning.

Unlike usual I kept accessories minimal (except my Daniel Wellington watch which is pretty much stapled to my wrist) but I quite like the simplicity of the whole outfit and how the ruffles do all the talking. The sheer fabric adds that luxurious touch and would look perfect on a date night with fluttery lashes and killer heels to match.

The Cami Dress

Fashion has fallen back in love with the Cami dress. It seems that both designers and consumers alike find the simplistic strappy dress that looks flattering on every body shape an alluring piece to recreate and revolve. I, of course, am not uninfluenced by its appeal. Hey, if Kendall Jenner is layering her satin black version over white t-shirts (Missguided do an amazing dupe FYI) I’m more than happy to get involved.

I picked up this baby in Oxfam recently- I’m pretty sure it’s a few seasons old as it resembles the 70s vibe we were all obsessed with a few seasons and the Kimchi Blue logo shows it was from Urban Outfitters. For a fiver it would have been rude to put it back on the rail.

It was miraculously warm here on Saturday so I teamed it with my black sleeveless trench from Missguided, navy fedora from H&M and these black velvet boots from Public Desire that I snapped up in the ASOS sale for £17.50. Bargain. I was meeting a friend for lunch so I kept accessories minimal- I grabbed my Mulberry and Daniel Welington watch- and was good to go. The loose dress was great for hiding bloated lunch stomach but the boots and hat added that bit of smart formality to the outfit.

The yellow tones of the dress looked super cute in the summer sunshine (trying to prolong that Greece tan y’kno) but I’m ready to start getting ready for winter and all the amazing warm, luxurious and comfy garments that it brings. While I used to be a big fan of classic Italian food, Greece has quickly become my new favourite. Stuffed peppers, tzatziki, fresh seafood straight out of the marina, mousakka, feta cheese, fresh kebabs with big fat pitta breads…. What more could a foodie like me ask for?

If there were two killer buys from my holiday in Samos it has to be this amazing mesh high-waisted bikini from Missguided and my deck chair-esque playsuit from New Look. As you guys know I’m a sucker for texture and stripes so these two beauties quickly became a firm favourites within my holiday wardrobe. The Bardot style top of the playsuit is super flattering- they’ve been littered all over the Catwalks and high street this season- plus teaming it up the ASOS belt I picked up a few weeks ago, really nips in my waist to give it more shape. I love the stripes on this playsuit, and while I do slightly resemble a deck chair when I wear it, I’m loving it! #sorrynotsorry. Next up is this perfect Missguided mesh bikini. Before you say it, yes it’s not great for tan lines, but I can’t get enough of this bikini as it hides the bottom of my stomach which is the part of my body I hate and the mesh crop was perfect thrown on with just some shorts to go to the beach bar for a bev or two.

Greece, all I can say is that I love you and I want to come back to living the Greek holiday dream immediately… Good job I’m off to Corfu with my best mate for four days next week then ay?! (smirky emoji) Blog post to follow of course!
